Hidden Kauai: Including Hanalei, Princeville, and Poipu (Hidden Travel)As an annual visitor to the Garden Island, I own many Kauai travel and hiking guides. This is one book I'll bring on my next visit. Ownership villas and timeshares abound from Poipu to Princeville, and Hidden Kauai gives details of this region that other guides rush past. The hiking trail section include names of flora and fauna most likely to be encountered (great for birders!). The restaurant, foodstand, and day-long excursion recommendations are most current, as are the shopping tips. It points out gay-friendly places - which usually are the most people-friendly, laid back and fun areas to visit. Hidden Kauai provides historical details specific to this island, which are missed in books that cover the entire state. Succinct and breezy writing make it light enough to pack with your sandals and sunscreen when visiting this postage-stamp paradise!

We are very excited about finding the "hidden" spots of Kauai now that we reside on this beautiful island, part-time. After reviewing many Travel/Guide books, this is our Favorite! We also leave it out for our rental Guests to enjoy and refer to. They have commented on how beneficial "Hidden Kauai" has been for them when exploring the island.

This book revealed hidden spots that listed great places that hardly anyone was at. The locations were easy to find. A real gem.

Book arrived on time and in good condition. My trip is in August 08, so after the trip I will tell you how good it was if it helps me during the trip.

I loved Reigart's Hidden Hawaii book from the mid-90's and was excited to get this updated (12-08) island specific book before our 03-09 trip. It's still good, well written, and provides a compact overview of the island, history and key spots to see, stay and eat. Reigart has delegated the updates to another writer who lives on Kauai. It now reads like a book written 15 years ago with updates forced in and some key items omitted. Example: called out as "special hidden" was Spouting Horn. A nice spot however three different tour busses came in the hour we were there (hardly hidden). This book still has value, however we found the Ultimate Revealed series more useful. This is a good second (supplemental) book if you're buying two when planning your trip. Recommended with reservations.

The book was recommended by a friend for our upcoming trip. If we visit half the places we've read about it'll be a fantastic trip.

This is a great crossword puzzle book for those of us who can solve Monday and Tuesday NY Times puzzles but not really the rest of the week's puzzles as they are too difficult. The puzzles in this book make you think just a bit and aren't like mindless "busywork" like some easy puzzle books/magazines found at mainstream stores. The book is larger in size and easy to work with. The print isn't too small. I highly recommend this great puzzle book!

I enjoy these crossword puzzles and the Tuesday puzzles are fine for me. Some have criticized the puzzles for containing multiple-word answers, phrases, and answers other than just one word. This is what makes it challenging. This is what makes it fun. I love the puns and the multiple-word answers since they make me work a bit harder. The only thing I'm not excited about is that sometimes I take this to waiting rooms or such like to work on and the word 'EASY' is often prominently displayed on the cover. I realize that these are not Saturday or Sunday puzzles but does the word 'EASY' have to be printed so large on the cover? Just joking.

Good stuff. We finished the Monday book, this is the perfect increase in difficulty. If you're not aware, the NYT ups the difficulty each day. Just because the Sunday book has a cute puppy on it doesn't mean it's easy. That fooled my husband a while back, boy was he surprised.

I love solving crosswords. I am not a brilliant solver, so I lean toward the easier ones. What I like about those edited by Will Shortz is that he makes sure there is always a good theme going through the puzzle. Often it's a kind of humor and I really enjoy solving them. And crossword puzzles help keep your mind young....if you go ahead and figure them out, that is!

Great puzzles -- Tuesdays seem to be my level (for now at least) and these puzzles are fun. Bonus: the type is large!

I'm happy with the puzzles, but I wish they were on whiter paper. Newsprint is not the way to go.

Great, challenging, interesting, but not those impossible end-of-week NY Times puzzles.

EDIT - came back and dropped this from 3 stars to 2. The recipes are ok; the book is tough to use. There's too much flipping back and forth between recipes, and there's very little info as to the nutritional value listed with the recipes. And frankly, I think all of the editing and printing mistakes (not the authors fault) just frustrate me. Wait for the next edition, if there is one.-- Original review --We've only been using it a few days now, and the recipes are good. But the book itself is hard to use. See pics for examples - missing page references, lack of info about what equipment to use, etc. I cook *a lot* so I'm working through it. But for someone who doesn't cook much and is trying to get their kids interested in better food, this might be a struggle to work with.I've uploaded three pics as examples - just a few of the many problems found in the book. First pic: Where's the page number? Second pic: It's handy knowing which recipes these are used in, but again - a page number would really help. Third pic: obviously an editing/formatting mistake, of which there are many in the book.So again, the recipes are pretty good and we'll use them. But the book itself can be a challenge to use. Lots of flipping around and cross referencing to make it work.

I've had this book for a while now and I've tried using it twice.It didn't really help me feed my kidz any more veggies as they could still taste whatever it was that they weren't interested in.The theory is awesome. Putting it into motion can be expensive and not very practical, to be honest with you.My kidz didn't like the Macaroni and cheese or several other dishes.So for me and my family, it just didn't work out very well. I've found better results by just using budget friendly recipes that taste great.Also, if you have blood sugar issues like me. blending all those veggies can really make your blood sugar spike. So for me, this one is a no go.

3 Star Review for poor editing only, otherwise I rate between 4 and 5 (haven't finished the book yet)Poor Editing: Quite a few pages and recipes in the kindle for phone, PC, and cloud reader are missing the fractional measurement number for ingredients. See photo - I can't make this recipe unless I consult the paperback version of the book, which I don't own (yet), because I can't tell how much of 4 separate ingredients are required to make it. I've tried reading it on the kindle app for phone, PC, and amazon cloud reader and all share this problem of missing measurements.Great Content: The content is well presented, organized, and very readable, and informative. I've only had the opportunity to make one of the recipes (brownies) so far, but I look forward to making more. The brownies were a little heavy and fudge-like, which I enjoy, but if you're looking for fluffy cake-like brownies you may need to experiment. I used her suggestion to replace both white and whole wheat flours with whole wheat pastry flour in my batch.

This is a great book to start but I would recommend getting all of them. My picky toddler eats peas, broccoli, spinach, carrots...you name it...without flinching (foods he won't normally touch)! This is a book about pureeing vegetables and adding them to foods you eat without anyone knowing. It's great that the author has done the experimenting for you so you don't have to guess what purees work well with each food. I mostly use the dinner recipes in this and her other books and I still offer vegetables whole along with each dish that but now I'm not worried when he throws them on the floor. When he's ready to accept them whole I will still use this book because even the adults in my house know we always want seconds of the main dish so that means extra veggies!
