You need only follow John Gray’s Facebook page to know how devastating it was to him and his wife to lose their precious puppy. This book was written to help those grieving the loss of a pet. John also donates part of the proceeds to animal shelters all over the United States. Highly recommend this book.

After losing our dog unexpectedly, I bought this book. I had planned on always buying it to keep away for when we had to explain to our son the loss of our fur babies. He is currently 14 months old, so his understanding of loss isn’t there yet. We have another dog, and when we lose her, I’m going to take this book out and read it with my son, that way it’ll help ease some of the pain. I read it myself since I have had a particularly hard time with the loss of my dog, and I can tell you, it is a very cute and well written book on explaining loss. It is not only for children, but for adults.
This book is based on a heartbreaking story that is based on truth. The author, John Gray and his wife Courtney lost their six month old German Shepherd puppy when he went down for his nap and never woke up. It really helps children and adults alike to deal with the loss of a beloved pet. And part of every sale goes to help pet rescues all over the country.
The story is sad but very well written. The art in the book is just amazing. The whole package is a great book for a child or adult/
