Mark Blake is a former assistant editor of Q magazine, a long-time contributor to its sister titles MOJO and Planet Rock, and has written for Rolling Stone, the Times (London), Classic Rock, and the Daily Telegraph. He is the editor of two definitive music books, Dylan: Visions, Portraits & Back Pages and Punk: The Whole Story, and is the author of the Pink Floyd biography Comfortably Numb and the Queen biography Is This the Real Life? A very interesting and easy read about the life of Zeppelin manager Peter Grant. A man who was born into a very modest life and worked and somewhat bullied his way into being the manger of of rock’s biggest band. A must read for any Zeppelin fan.

This is a well-written book with interesting anecdotes and a good narrative. Still, when the hook in the title is Led Zeppelin, the author assumes a huge task, finding depth to analyze that has not previously been shared from the 70's forward. This is the greatest weakness that I perceived. As a biography of Peter Grant, it moves quickly and lightly over meaning and purpose in his life. And as a more in-depth exploration of Grant and the Zeppelin, it has the same light touch. A good read, but with less substance than I would have hoped.

Great book on a man with many sides ,not as many salacious stories to read instead more heartfelt, real, human Yes there were scandalous things like Oakland but told in a minute by minute account. A great rags to riches to rags to redemption tale
